not a pretty picture. not a good. not a bad. picture. but an argument.

rock, somewhere deep in the killarney backwoods

i practice this, this rock exists, this rock exists, this rock exists

all around the periphery of our brassy lives
exists something much deeper, wiser, older and more patient

we are like gnats

this rock exists, this rock exists, this rock exists

Do we realize this? Do we see ourselves in the bigger context? No. We think we are the sun and the planets all circle around us. What a Napoleon complex we nurture!

    1. william, if we are lucky enough to experience these places we can not help but be changed by them.

  3. erin,
beautiful photo..It is amazing as the rock seems more like itself in the reflection and not the real being..Perhaps we are the same..

    1. manik! i am so glad you see this. i stared at the real reflection/shadow so much. in fact this whole trip i spent with shadows and reflections! i was fascinated by them and wondered if one was more real than the other or if they were indeed their own beings, only similar in appearance. this is very important, i think, to consider. i'm very grateful you see it too.

  5. Maybe so...but I still want you to take credit for what you've created, what your eye captured, how you saw the light. We think pictures are often obvious because we see the shot in our photographic minds - not everyone does. Don't downplay this gift mi amiga :-)
