i bet you didn't know
all it takes for a woman to transform
is a scarf,
a pair of earrings,
a perfume,
a poem,
a voice,
a hand,
a suggestion,
a doorway,
a promise,
an idea.
although, at times, it appears that the transformation occurs outside the woman,
the dialogue must take place within the woman.

i have seen this happen
ReplyDeleteas if the moon wears a woman's body like a dress and sings
i stand amazed and sustained in that light :-)))
So true. And so simply and beautifully expressed.
ReplyDeletea suggestion. how the whole demeanor can change by a suggestion, a hint, a promise of something she never thought possible. i know when he says something to me in such a way that i blush automatically, i am seen.
ReplyDeleteFor us we have had the worst paper, how to interpret the mapping of our partners and sometimes the mapping is dark and cryptic.
ReplyDeleteGreetings
james, you have been that poem, that scarf, those earrings, that voice, that touch, that doorway... :))
ReplyDeletethank you, hilary.
aimee, it is so much about being recognized, isn't it? i am always surprised by this.
damaso, this is an intriguing (and perhaps right) way to look at it, we have the worst paper, even for ourselves to know ourselves. the mapping of self is dark and cryptic and so how can we share this easily? it is a puzzle.

Erin - Such truth in a poem. Even at my age - I can be transformed by those things (inside and out). Congrats on your POTW!
